My work spans live venue production, touring, and emerging immersive audio projects. I am especially interested in projects that sit at the intersection of technical delivery, spatial sound, and creative practice, and I approach each project with a focus on clarity, collaboration, and adaptability.

Electronic Music in Spatial Audio

Role: Audio Engineer / Spatial Audio (Developing Practice)

Electronic Music in Spatial Audio is an exploratory project investigating how electronic dance music can be conceived and realised within an immersive three-dimensional sound field. Drawing on influences from immersive live performances and spatial composers, the piece was composed and mixed using third-order ambisonics, a format that encodes sound for playback in full-sphere spatial audio systems.

The work engages with concepts such as spectromorphology and deep listening to shape how rhythm, texture, and spatial movement interact in an immersive context. By placing musical elements within a spatial sound field and automating their movement and positioning, the piece aims to explore how spatialisation can contribute to both structural and experiential dimensions of electronic music — inviting listeners into a more embodied listening experience.

Technically, the project was created using ambisonic tools in Ableton Live, utilising plugins to encode and decode spatial audio for both binaural headphone playback and ambisonic speaker playback formats. This allowed experimentation with sound trajectories and immersive placement while maintaining creative control over the composition.

This project forms part of my developing practice in immersive and spatial audio, reflecting an interest in how spatial sound formats can reshape musical experience and live performance workflows.

Microtonal Music

2023 Final Project exploring the “Attainability of Microtonal Compositions using Accessible Tools”. This visualiser was created for a piece of music that I produced using Ableton, utilising the stock Micro-tuner plug-in to tune synth plugins and Saxophone samples out of 12 TET tuning. This video alongside the music and project proposal won the Music Production Award in 2023 from The Musicians Company.

Digital Composition in Context: Experimental Music

Role: Researcher/writer

Digital Composition in Context is an experimental music project exploring how digital technologies shape creative practice and sonic form. Drawing inspiration from pioneers in electronic and experimental music, such as Laurie Spiegel’s work with evolving synthesizer sequences, the piece examines how digital tools, analogue instruments, and found sounds can be combined to create new textural and formal relationships in sound.

The work integrates:

  • Synthesizer-based sonic material created with hardware such as the Roland Gaia and Yamaha YS Reface, generating layered arpeggiated and dissonant textural elements.

  • Found recordings repurposed through digital processes and convolution techniques informed by seminal experimental works like Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting in a Room.

This project reflects on historical and conceptual contexts of digital composition, situating contemporary creative practice within broader aesthetic discourse while using digital tools and techniques as compositional drivers rather than mere production technologies.
